Orchestrating Human Improvement Technology

April 25, 2008

The term Human Improvement Technolgy (HIT) evokes the myriad of approaches there are today to dealing with people issues in a prgamatic way. Similar terms that are used more often are Human Performance Improvement and Human Performance Technology.

Since Behaviorists like Isaac Pavlov and B.F Skinner and Pyschonalysts like Sigmund Freud and Karl Jung at the turn of 20th century revealed that what we do and how we do it is influenced in ways we don't always know, the study of human behavior has produced an infinite amount of knowledge and scientific applications. These can and should be used to improve our lives.

Technoloigy and Science sometimes sound cold and utilitarian. I like the term Human Improvement Technology because the word "human" evokes the humanist's concern for the individual, our spiritual and creative nature, man's intrinsic search for self-discovery, self-determination and freedeom. This does not contradict the fact that we can systematically analyze the challenges we face in our workplace, our organizations and our homes. To make our world better.

Will you use the body of knowledge that is already out there to benefit your business, your family or yourself? Yes, this is a rhetorical question.

Let me convince you how you can hit it off wit HIT!

Solutions...Just an Analysis Away!

April 23, 2008

In my 20+ years of experience with site staff management and corporate executives I have noticed that decision-makers tend to think they have all the answers to business problems. These extremely respectable, smart people have a keen sense to quickly identify a situation and come up with brilliant solutions. Unfortunately their ideas rarely get fully implemented and much even less frequently are they evaluated on their own merit.

HIT proposes that stakeholders and consultants will certainly implement the right solutions…preceeded of course by the right analysis. By definition analysis is rigorous, explicit and demonstrable. But it is not arduous; actually it's easier than many think, takes less time and doesn’t cost much.. That’s why we say, “Solutions are just an analysis away”.
